the arts, being gay, acting, 21st century philosophy

This is my first entry.
I am an intelligent, opinionated, television loving, theatre loving, life loving, good looking, funny, at times tragic, politically aware, global citizen.
I am a well respected actor in Australia, and absolutely love this whole idea of *blogging* ...I bought my first computer in 1995, and have been ever so slowly allowing it to encroach my life.
My favourite things are TV, the arts, music, politics, fireworks, drinking, bars, dinner parties, (going to them, not giving them, I can't cook an egg) I watch too much TV, but the longer I live, the more I get scared that I'm missing out on some major global event. I have no children, no real responsibilties.
I can't stand the materialism of the Western World, even though I am a slave to it in many ways. My pet hate these days is the *Paris Hiltonism* of the world. It makes me sad when I go to a night club and see people texting God knows who while their friends are often doing the same thing! Why don't they talk to each other!
But I guess the way this works is I talk about what is on my mind right now.
Right now I am listening to 'The View' ... I love the 'The View' ... is that gay? I guess so. They are talking about O.J Simpson. I LOVED how some guy on C.N.N. after showing the clip of O.J. begging for mercy to the judge ( what a performance... I almost felt sorry for him!) but this guy on C.N.N. said "What a jerk". My sentiments exactly. That guy has finally got his just desserts. Like millions of others I couldn't believe he got away with what he did the first time. American justice. Go figure.
I am an intelligent interesting Australian. I imagine that this blog may be interesting to Americans, to hear an Aussie point of view on many of your Country's topics. I have been fortunate enough to have been there many many times, New York City I have been to 13 times.
We ( the rest of the world) were SO thrilled with the Obama victory. Yay!? ! Hello?? FINALLY you guys are back in the good books. I still think that by the end of this century China will be the Big Kahuna, maybe by the 23rd Century, but sorry Yankies, your days would appear to be numbered. BUT, maybe Obama can save you. He is wonderful. He's so smart. I read 'The Audacity of Hope'... not the most compelling page turner, but wow, you guys now have the author of that book as your President! Yay. January 20th 2009 will be quite a day.
I don't know what happens now.. I guess I press send and ... will somebody read it? will I ever get a response? Encourage me if you have the time. I've been thinking about this blog thing, I don't think I've done a great job of grabbing anyone's attention, but I hope I have, cos I promise I'll get better. Whatever you do, do it with passion. I know lots of famous people have done crazy things, but I also have a very unusual... no not unusual, authentic, way of looking at the world. I reckon you could learn things from me. As I hope to learn things from you. I do not tolerate fools. I have no time for idiots. And geez there's a hellova lot of them out there. cheers, Nick x
